Plans of Trenance Cottages
The Trenance Cottages Community Interest Company was launched in April 2007. RBC reacted favourably. They pledged to carry out roof renewal and stabilisation of the buildings, before transferring the freehold to the new CIC, subject to its constitution and aims being approved by the Cabinet. Roof work has commenced in August 2007.
Once in the ownership of the CIC, the intention is to adapt the interior of the cottages to provide:
- Tea Rooms and Tea Garden
- Space for use by community organisations for meetings
- Space for an exhibition of Old Newquay artefacts, with historical interpretation
- Sales area for the retail of locally-produced goods
- Workshop/studio for use by artists/photographers/craftpeople
- Two offices which can be leased out
- Office from which the Friends would administer/organise their family and community events to be held, with due permission of the owning local authority, in the surrounding gardens
