The Cottages

Trenance Cottages were built in the 1700/1800s and lived in by local families until the mid 1960s. They became a museum, housing valuable artefacts from Newquay's past. On the death of its benevolent figurehead Derek James, the site began a sad decline towards the present state of deriliction. More about the history.

The Vision

Hundreds of Newquay people have backed a joint plan to restore the old cottages, and replacement of the roof has already been completed. Subject to successful grant applications, the full project will follow. Restormel Borough Council has handed over the property to the newly-formed Charity, Trenance Cottages Newquay. With tasteful upgrading inside and an annexe added at the back, we will offer appropriate facilities, such as a community meeting space with back-up light refreshments, a shop selling quality local produce and rooms for multi-purpose use, to include IT and projection equipment.

The Friends

The Friends of Trenance Cottages were formed to promote the restoration work and to encourage greater use of the Trenance area.
